Plinth Heating

Heating rooms with fitted kitchens or furniture can be problematic as there is usually little wall space for radiators, and if the units are already fitted, removing them and ripping the floors up for under floor heating is an expensive nightmare.

When people think about plinth heaters, they usually think of those electrically driven, clunky fan blowers that are mounted into the plinths of kitchen units, noisily spreading the dust and scorching the toes of the unwary as they stand close to the worktops.

Imagine then, using the readily available plinths of the kitchen units or fitted wardrobe as the heat emitter. This is exactly what ThermaSkirt can do.

By mounting onto the kitchen plinths, ThermaSkirt will provide an all around gentle radiant heat, without having to sacrifice wall space, controllability or cupboard units.

ThermaSkirt is available in several heights (4½'' & 6'') and in several styles and colours to suit any kitchen or wardrobes -modern or traditional- that is simply plumbed into a traditional radiator circuit.

The unique mounting method means that ThermaSkirt is simply and quickly attached to the plinths, and can be configured to allow the removal of built in appliances such as dishwashers or fridge/freezers, without having to drain the heating down first.

Using ThermaSkirt as the plinth heating is an effective, affordable and energy efficient way of heating a kitchen, bedroom or even bathroom without having to disturb the floors or lose wall space to ugly radiators.

As the majority of plinth heaters are made from a stable fibre board or mdf, there is no risk of heat being lost under the units. For particularly drafty houses, reflective foil may be used behind the ThermaSkirt and in front of the plinths to reduce any potential losses to an absolute minimum.

Any concerns about heat damage to the kitchen carcasses is misplaced, as kitchen cabinets are designed to withstand the heat of a built in oven, which emits significantly more heat in a small area than ThermaSkirt – which evenly distributes the heat across all of the fitted units.

As ThermaSkirt emits approximately 150w per m, the localise heat output is equivalent to a fridge/freezer unit, which also emits heat from the evaporator and motor unit.

Featured here are just some of the 1,000s of Kitchens and bedrooms that have benefited from using ThermaSkirt as an alternative to under floor heating and conventional radiators.
